Twins Emma and Jacob love to play pirates. They hear from their grandfather about Dixie Bull, a Maine pirate whose ship still searches for his lost gold. Grampy warns them not to say the pirate’s name, or his ghost will appear. The twins go play at the town harbor. They want to be real pirates, so they call for Dixie Bull. The ship appears in the mist, and they hide aboard. Discovered, they learn about pirates’ work and recover the captain’s lost treasure. Will they go home or remain pirates on the ship forever?

“All I can say is, Arrrgh, me mateys! As a native Mainer and a former pirate I loved everything about this book! The story is rollicking good fun that will delight buccaneers of all ages, and the illustrations are charming, lovely, and spot-on. Stowaways will surely chart its course into the canon of beloved pirate stories for children.”

—James L. Nelson, award-winning author of The Buccaneer Coast
