by Russie Lane

What does a lightkeeper’s wife picking berries on a remote Maine island in 1958 have to do with the health and well-being of those living on a continent half a world away and decades later?

This is just one strand of the storyline woven into Snow Angels on the Moon: the true tale of a son’s endeavor to convince his ailing father that his life has meaning. When the son rediscovered an old newspaper article tucked away in a family album, it spoke of five young campers rescued from an overturned sailboat in the stormy Atlantic. If not for the intervention of his lightkeeper father, all five souls would have surely perished.

Facing challenges of his own, the son set out to discover the details of that long-ago afternoon. Who were these kids? Where are they now? As he began his search, little did he know how much the rescue had changed the world, or how uncovering the story would change him.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Raised in a fishing family on the Maine coast, Russie Lane well understood what it meant to be part of a tight-knit community. His mentorship started at an early age listening to his father and uncles tell stories down at the dock.

After high school he left Maine in search of an education and a career. He later returned with his wife, Heidi, where they raised their two children and he could help care for his ailing father.

Enamored with the art of storytelling, Russie enjoys writing and filmmaking. His film, Looking for a Hero, was voted Audience Favorite at the International Maritime Film Festival in 2016.
