When Ada Bea McC. moved “from away” to Maine’s sleepiest fishing village, she innocently tried to befriend the town’s most ornery and cantankerous resident, ol’ Grumpy Johnson. Laugh and cry as you follow Ada Bea’s wild and rollicking battle of wills with Grumpy throughout this Maine-inspired adventure until it reaches its exciting and heartwarming conclusion.
The audiobook is narrated by Jennywren Walker and features the voices of renowned Maine humorist Tim Sample. ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Laurence H. Leavitt’s grandfather was a classmate and close friend of Theodor S. Geisel. As a result, while growing up in Maine, Larry was exposed to a steady diet of Dr. Seuss and good old Downeast humor. These influences have inspired Larry’s debut children’s book. Larry is also a founder of a national law firm that specializes in fire and explosion cases.
ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATOR
Averil Burner is a Maine-born, Brunswick-based painter and illustrator. Her literary illustration debut with Ada Bea’s Downeast Adventure was in many ways inspired by her own coming-of-age experience on the coast of Maine. Her visual depiction of Ada Bea’s story is true to Averil’s whimsical style and boldly colorful artistic voice. She has high hopes that the story will engage and excite its audience, both young and old.
