Sequel to Bear and the Oxbow Island Gang

Bear returns to his grandmother’s home on Oxbow Island for Halloween, eager to build the biggest pumpkin pyramid EVER and to make costumes with his island friend, Olivia. When Honey the Wonder Dog digs up a lobster claw as big as her head, they know they have to find the person responsible for this environmental crime.

The second book in an environmental mystery series for readers ages 8-11.

…Chalmers conjures up the warmth, charm, and eccentricity of Oxbow Island’s widely diverse but close-knit residents. It’s heartening to see how they creatively rally round each other again and again for problem-solving and protection. Chalmers also makes math and science attractive…
An equally wholesome and amusing tale that celebrates friendship, nature, and curious inquiry.

Kirkus Reviews

What’s not to love about a book that starts with a map of an island in Maine? A book peppered with lobster pots, science projects, and intrigue? A book featuring, possibly, the world’s largest pumpkin pyramid? In this sequel to Bear and the Oxbow Island Gang, Bear returns to his grandmother’s home on Oxbow Island to solve another environmental mystery with his best friend Olivia. Illustrations by the award-winning Jamie Hogan add to the well-drawn, heartfelt sense of place.
