by Patrisha McLean
My Island explores Maine island life through the eyes and words of the year-round and summer children, and features more than 100 duotone portraits of children ranging from an eight-year-old who lobster fishes with his uncle and grandfather, a girl whose father is the golf pro on Islesboro and describes the ocean like “swimming through mint and freshness”, and the reigning Miss Vinalhaven.
Patrisha McLean’s photographs of children are in the permanent collections of the Farnsworth Museum and Portland Museum of Art. This is her third book.
