by Robert W. Spencer

Author of Spinster’s Hope Chest & Prospects

When her best friend Lottie falls deathly ill, Francena proves her love by becoming her main caregiver. To do so she sacrifices her own search for love, happiness, and professional success. Set in southern Maine during the first decade of the twentieth century, this third and concluding volume of the Lizzie Millett Series brings an end to conflicts between imprisoned murderer Aphia Stevens, Millett, and her family.

Spencer has a way of drawing his readers into the story’s space and grounding them there in the narrative’s time and place. I have been anxiously awaiting Francena Hallett’s Heart.

—Mary Kay Donovan, Charlestown, MA, and MDI, Maine
